She is responsible for providing strategic leadership to SIBZ as a subsidiary of Stanbic Bank Zambia Limited and to ensure its growth and positioning as a major provider of insurance products and related services within the Zambian Financial Services Industry. In addition, Chilufya is responsible for aligning to the overall Standard Bank Group Bancassurance strategy and implementing and managing strategic partnerships to drive the growth of the opportunities in the market.
The Insurance Brokers Association of Zambia (IBAZ) Honorary Treasurer aims to revolutionise Zambia’s insurance sector. In January 2018, Stanbic Bank became the first bank in the country to obtain an insurance brokerage license from the Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA).
She started her illustrious career – spanning 19 years and counting – as a sales representative in life assurance, assumed positions of leadership and responsibilities culminating in her appointment as Chief Executive Officer, Stanbic Insurance Brokers Zambia.
Chilufya has in the past also taken lead roles in designing, planning and facilitating for implementation of key strategic initiatives to drive an Inclusive Insurance Market in Zambia. She takes pride at driving projects whose focus is on deepening the insurance penetration rates in Zambia. She was in November 2017 presented with the Leadership Excellence Award in the Africa’s Woman Emerging Business Leaders Category by CMO Asia in Mauritius, and she has also been listed and conferred with the Citation of the “100 Most Influential Global Marketing Leaders listing 2016 by the World Marketing Congress in Mumbai, India.
Chilufya holds a Master of Science Degree in Global Consumer Marketing (MSc MCM) with University of Liverpool (UK), a Professional Post-Graduate Diploma (DipCIM) with Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), a Leadership Certificate by Duke CORPORATE EDUCATION South Africa and completed her Executive programme in Innovation & Strategy with the University of Oxford, Said Business School, UK.
